Laura Plato, Founder and Owner

Laura is a professional certified coach and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience leading transformational change for nonprofit and for-profit organizations. She leads the business and drives New Frequency's Well-being and Social Impact practice areas.

As a Triple Negative Breast Cancer Survivor who beat the odds and has lived cancer-free for over a decade, she has personally experienced the challenges of serious work-life imbalance, and unhealthy, stress-filled living — and understands how to make and stay on track with the changes we want for our lives, our families and our teams even when the deck seems stacked against us.

She founded New Frequency out of a belief that the way we work fundamentally must change: the traditional ways of working are unsustainable and unsafe. They lead to ill health for entrepreneurs, leaders, and teams, and, ultimately are counter-productive, producing less-than-optimized results. By bringing in new ways of working that center well-being and mindfulness, together, we can reach new levels of thriving at work and in life.

Trained in the disciplines of ontological and well-being coaching, she has supported hundreds of well-known entrepreneurs and purpose-driven technology leaders to achieve new levels of personal and professional success for over 15 years through her agency Courageous Be Coaching.

She has also been a Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and general all-rounder in the disciplines of Community Impact, Employee Engagement, Marketing and Communications, Partnerships Development, Human Resources, and Fundraising, creating thriving teams at organizations ranging in size from 5 to 15,000 employees including VolunteerMatch.org, Intuit, Causecast, and SkysTheLimit.org.

She is past-Chair for the South Carolina Institutes of Innovation and Information Foundation, a 501c3 supporting the Institutes of Innovation and Information established at South Carolina’s seven Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

A nationally published author, speaker, and advisor in the field of social impact, she recently contributed to the best-selling book Transforming Disruption to Impact. She has appeared on NBC, NPR, CNN, and dozens of other global forums.

She received her BA with Honors in English from Scripps College and holds an MSc from the London School of Economics in Criminal Justice Policy. She graduated from the Academy for Coaching Excellence in 2010 and received her certified health and well-being coach designation from Wellcoaches in 2023.

Your assessment for my business validated my intuition in many ways, while also offering completely new insights that serve as a compass for future expansion.”
